Seamus Heaney’s last known poem has been published in The Guardian.
The poem is a contribution to a memorial anthology marking the centenary of the outbreak of the first world war. Heaney's In a Field is a response to Edward Thomas's As The Team's Head Brass which was written in 1916 shortly before he asked to be posted to the front – a decision that led to his death at Arras in 1917.
